Starting School

Dechrau’r Ysgol

All admissions to school are approved by the Neath Port Talbot Admissions Officer, School and Family Support Team.

Admission forms are available from the School Admissions Section, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, or parents can apply online at www.npt.gov.uk

If you are considering sending your child to Coed Hirwaun Primary School and would like to arrange a visit or to talk to the Headteacher please phone the school on 01656 747830. Please ask to speak to Mrs Sian Jefford, Headteacher and we will arrange a mutually convenient day and time.

Letters will go out in the first week of September regarding dates for admissions for the Nursery in the Autumn Term.

School Meals from Reception to Year 6

Hot meals are provided in school for full time pupils. All pupils in Reception – Year 6 in Neath Port Talbot Council are now entitled to Free School Meals.

School Fruit

Pupils can have fruit on a daily basis at a charge of 20p per day. Nursery-Year 2 pay for the week in advance on a Monday (money in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and their year group). Year 3-Year 6 bring 20p in each day and purchase the fruit on a daily basis.

We believe that the wearing of school uniform contributes to a sense of belonging to the school community and helps to develop a sense of pride in the school. The agreed uniform is any combination of the following:

In summer smart navy shorts may be worn and yellow and white gingham dresses are available for the girls and a white cardigan. Cycle shorts are not permitted except for P.E. Also available are P.E. shorts, T-shirts and bags, Book bags, Backpacks, winter hats and baseball hats.

Clothes for Physical Education

Dillad ar gyfer Addysg Gorfforol
All children are required to bring kit for P.E. This will consist of navy shorts and a yellow T-shirt with or without logo for indoor P.E. (no shoes). For outdoor games, trainers are required, with a sweatshirt and joggers during the winter months.
